Screen Shot 2016-06-14 at 12.07.25 PMOn Sunday, Aug. 14, thousands of Chicago students will receive free school supplies from the Julian D. King Foundation, established by singer and actress Jennifer Hudson and her sister Julia Hudson.

The foundation was established in 2008 after the murder of Hudson’s nephew Julian, who was 7 at the time, Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson. Every year on Julian’s birthday, the organization gives school supplies to underprivileged children in Chicago.
